Mr. Lo is the founder of LHY Etiquette Consultancy Limited. He grew up in a Hong Kong diplomat’s family where his father was once the territory’s Chief Trade Representative posted in the United States and subsequently in the European Union. Mr. Lo had the opportunities to actively participate in many official events, where he learnt and witnessed at first hand the fine art of diplomatic and social protocol.


Founded in 2008, his consultancy provides tailor-made, in-house corporate training in cross-cultural understanding, international business etiquette, social manners, western table manners, wine education, and foreigner localisation & sensitivity training. He has a unique style of training which uses food and beverage as a conduit for different cultures to better understand each other.


Mr. Lo’s other branch of business focuses on food and beverage Consulting, and is a regular featured guest on Chinese television programmes. Highlights include being the Royal Etiquette Commentator during the 7-hour live broadcast of Prince William & Kate Middleton’s wedding, to being food & wine critic on various lifestyle shows. Internationally, he has been featured on BBC Radio 4, CNN, as well as Rai2 Radio with Italy’s famous food & wine radio host Federico Quaranta. His in-depth knowledge in Western cuisine is shown on various Chinese internet portal documentaries in collaboration with Chile, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, and Spain. His promotional engagement with Umbria regional government regarding Italy was rewarded with a “Travel Writer & Champion for Mediterranean Diet” prize by UNESCO sponsored Cultural Tourism Agency, and was invited as a food critic panel-speaker at the annual International Journalism Festival in Italy in 2011. His Chinese blog writings and social media sites reach well over 3 million hits.


Amongst some of his etiquette training clients include (in alphabetical order) Air China, BP, Citibank, , DHL, Georgetown University MBA, Shangri-La Hotels etc. He also acts as an independent food and wine consultant for FIJI Water, Godiva, illy Coffee, Lindt Chocolatier, Wine Australia (As Certified A+ Australian Wine Educator), Wines of Chile etc. Linking these with his role as a travel & lifestyle writer, some of his partnerships are further enhanced by luxury hotels & resorts brands, airlines & high-end travel services, as well as leading international PR firms that invite Mr. Lo as their Key Opinion Leader or Brand Ambassador on behalf of their clients.


Mr. Lo’s education background highlights his unique strength in various fields relating to his consultancy. He attended boarding school at The King’s School Canterbury in England where he was taught self-discipline and proper manners at an early age, obtained his bachelor’s double-major degree from Georgetown University in international relations and Spanish literature. Following his father’s diplomatic posting, he moved to Belgium and earned a French-taught post-graduate degree in European Studies at the Université Catholique de Louvain. Furthermore, fascinated by oenology and gastronomy, he graduated with distinction at the Namur School of Hotel Management (Institut Supérieur de Gestion Hôtelière) in Belgium. His cosmopolitan savoir-faire, East-meets-West cultural understanding, as well as fluency in (alphabetical order) Cantonese, English, French, Mandarin, Spanish, and working knowledge of Italian, are testaments to his international exposure and broad interests from foreign clients.


Outside of work, Mr. Lo has a keen interest in classical music. During his formative years in England, he obtained the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music violin Grade Six examination with distinction. Amongst the various school symphony and chamber orchestras that he played in, the most notable highlight included an orchestral master class with the legendary conductor Sir Georg Solti.
